Slug-Go Fishing Technique

It is important to ensure that Slug-Go soft plastic fishing lures are fished properly in order to achieve best results.
Here are a few pointers to get you started with the Slug-Go:

  • Make a short cast to begin and allow the lure to sink slowly to a couple of feet below the surface.
  • Observe how the lure reacts to you slowly winding the reel and twitching the rod at varying speeds.
  • It is easiest to twitch from the wrist rather than the elbow. The lighter the rod  you are using, the easier this will be.
  • You will see that the harder you twitch the rod the more erratic the lure’s response.
  • If the lure is retrieved quickly and your twitching of the rod is frequent it will dance and flutter near to the surface.
  • Allow the lure to sink and your twitching to be less frequent and the lure will glide from side to side sub-surface.

Remember... when a fish hits or flanks the lure but doesn’t hook itself, keep the lure moving...IT WILL BE BACK!

Don't give up with this technique, it takes practice to ensure the lure is worked effectively.

We suggest 10-14lb braided mainline to 2ft of 8-10lb mono or fluorocarbon leader. Snap links that are too big can interfere with the Slug-go's action. It is also important to use a

light spinning rod

that has a fairly stiff action. This ensures that the lure reacts to your twitching of the rod tip.

GOOD LUCK!
